Scrub Oak, Donner Park
Gambel oak, also known as scrub oak, is native to the lower slopes of the northern Wasatch Range. Largely demeaned as a fire hazard and a weed, scrub oak is a close relative to the majestic oak tree, and frankly, it deserves more respect from locals, so I set out to do it some justice. This naturally backlit shot was taken just as sunset was approaching, Donner Park, Salt Lake City.
